Leave without pay
There may be circumstances where an employee is required to take unpaid leave from their employment.
For example where an employee has exhausted their leave entitlement.
In order to best manage these situations, the employer should include leave without pay as a section within their holiday policy.
In addition leave without pay can be addressed within the employment contract, making clear how this requested in the circumstances in which it will be granted.
