No 37 The Employment Rights (Increase of Limits) Order (Northern Ireland) 2016
This Order comes into operation on 14/2/16 and effectively changes calculation and limits figures for things such as a week’s pay for the purposes of statutory redundancy pay and unfair dismissal calculation.
For example – A week’s pay is now capped at £500, Guarantee pay is now £25.90 and unfair dismissal compensation is capped at £79,100. Under Article 33 of the Employment Relations (Northern Ireland) Order 1999 (“the 1999 Order”), if the retail prices index (RPI) for September of a year is higher (or lower) than the index for the previous September, the Department is required to change the limits, by Order, by the amounts of the increase or decrease (rounded up as specified in Article 33(3) of the 1999 Order). The increases made by this Order reflect the increase in the index of 0.8% from September 2014 to September 2015.
