Managing Bereavement in the Workplace
This guidance aims to help employers manage this difficult situation through appropriate and sensitive discussions with their employee, both in the immediate aftermath of bereavement and in the longer term.
Grief impacts on the emotional, physical, spiritual and psychological wellbeing of the person who is bereaved. At any time, one in 10 employees is likely to be affected. Whilst this is an intensely personal experience, a compassionate and flexible approach from employers can ensure that the impact on both the individual and the organisation is minimised.
