An agency worker is someone who is supplied by an employment business/agency to work for the hirer under a contract of employment or other such contract as agreed between the employment business/agency and the hirer.

The rights and responsibilities involved when it comes to Redundancy (HTML)
For redundancy to be fair there must be a genuine need for redundancy and the employer must follow a fair process in carrying it out. Where there are many employees involved, trade unions and employees should be consulted properly.
Before beginning any redundancy (and during the consultation process), an employer should think about whether it can avoid making redundancies or reduce the number of redundancies. Employers also need to carefully think about how the employees will be chosen for redundancy. If they don’t, they may face claims of unfair dismissal.
The way that staff are chosen should be fair and follow an agreed selection process if the organisation has one. If there isn’t an agreed process in place, the employer must make sure there is no discrimination, that staff are chosen fairly, and in a way that can be checked.
549 Disability Discrimination (Guidance on Code of Practice) (Appointed day) Order (Northern Ireland) 1996
This Order stipulates 2nd December 1996 as the date on which this guidance comes into force and addresses the elimination of discrimination in the field of employment against disabled persons or persons who have had a disability.
4 Race Relations (Prescribed Public Bodies) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1998
These Regulations prescribe certain public bodies under and for the purposes of Article 71 (5) of the Race Relations (Northern Ireland) Order 1997 relating to employment rules relevant to service of the Crown or certain public bodies.

No 320 The Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups (Miscellaneous Amendments) Order (Northern Ireland) 2012
This Order comes into on 10/9/12 and essentially amends the Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups (Miscellaneous Provisions) Order (Northern Ireland) 2009 (“the 2009 Order”) by revoking the provisions in the 2009 Order which provided that certain people should not be treated as vulnerable adults or as providing regulated activity to children or to vulnerable adults, in light of the changes to the definitions of vulnerable adult, regulated activity relating to children and regulated activity relating to vulnerable adults in Schedule 7 to the Protection of Freedoms Act 2012 (“the 2012 Act”).
604 Employment Protection (Continuity of Employment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1996
These Regulations, as of 2nd February 1997, revoke and replace the Industrial Relations (Continuity of Employment) Regulations of 1994 and relate to maintenance of continuity of employment where a dismissed employee is reinstated or re-engaged in certain circumstances.
No 302 The Labour Relations Agency Arbitration Scheme (Jurisdiction) Order (Northern Ireland) 2012
This Order utilises the power vested in the Department for Employment and Learning to permit the Labour Relations Agency to prepare an arbitration scheme for dealing with disputes which are or could become the subject of industrial tribunal proceedings.
