Certificate in Effective Line Management Practice
In-Person Programme
The Labour Relations Agency is delighted to offer the Spring/Summer 2024 programme of the Certificate in Effective Line Management Practice.
Effective line managers positively contribute to productive organisations by reducing staff turnover, successfully managing absence and limiting lost working days while positively contributing to performance management and ensuring that employees and their skills are fully developed.
In recognising the fundamental role of the modern line manager, the Labour Relations Agency has developed the ‘Certificate in Effective Line Management Practice’ to equip managers with the people management knowledge and skills they need to be successful in their role and to foster a positive employment relations environment.
Who is this for?
The programme is for new line managers. It will suit employees new to a management grade, and experienced technical/specialist employees who are managing people for the first time.
What will it cover?
The programme will give you confidence in your ability to implement employment policies and practices to ensure employees are treated fairly and consistently.
It covers core responsibilities of people managers:
- Having difficult conversations
- Conducting investigations
- Supporting mental health in the workplace
- Managing employee attendance
- Managing performance
- Dealing with disciplinary or grievance matters
- Handling conflict at work
How much will it cost?
It’s free. The Labour Relations Agency does not charge for any services.
Where is the programme delivered?
The programme is delivered in person, at our Regional Office located at Richmond Chambers, The Diamond, Derry/Londonderry, BT48 6HN.
What is my time commitment?
Four days. The programme is intensive, interactive and practical. We will deliver two sessions per day, one day per week, over four weeks. Each session lasts around two hours. You will need the support of your own line manager to guarantee your attendance and protect the time.
So when is the next programme?
It starts – Tuesday 4th June 2024. There are eight sessions across four dates, and you need to be able to attend all of them:
- Tuesday 4th June
- Tuesday 11th June
